Glazing

CHOOSING THE RIGHT GLAZING FOR CLARITY AND PROTECTION

Specialising in a wide range of glazing options, our services are designed to not only protect your artwork from environmental factors but also to enhance its visual appeal.

As well as 2mm or 3mm float glass (picture glass) we can offer a whole range of glazing options with various degrees of UV protection and light reflection. These are listed below.

We also offer a reglazing service for upgrading existing frame glazing or replacing broken glass.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN GLAZING A FRAME?

The most important things to consider is where the finished frame will hang and what environmental factors could potentially damage the contents. If it is in a bright, sun lit space, UV protection and reflection are things to think about. A picture hanging in a child room may require acrylic glazing rather than glass, for safety. We will guide you through all the options available and help you choose the most suitable glazing for your project.

1. Float Glass: Also referred to as picture glass, this is ideal for everyday items that do not require extra protection.

2. Conservation UV Glass: With 99% UV filtering this glass is perfect for delicate documents and photographs to limit fading and deterioration.

3. Anti / Low Reflect Glass: Available in a range of UV protection levels, this glass has no ‘green tint’ allowing for true colour transmission and clarity. This makes it the best choice for galleries and brightly lit spaces.

4. Acrylic Glazing: With amazing optical clarity, acrylic glazing is lightweight and shatter-resistant. There are various levels of UV protection available as well as anti / low reflect options. With safety in mind it is ideal for larger pictures, public spaces and areas occupied by children.
